Earliest meeting: Wednesday 29th August 1810
Final meeting: Thursday 29th July 1819
In the time of the Domesday Book Herefordshire was divided into a number of Hundreds, as many as 19 were mentioned, although some were relatively small.  In more recent times there are 12 key Hundreds, one of which is Broxash.  Broxash, near to Bromyard, held its own races for a period of nine years, starting on Wednesday 29th August 1810. Whilst there is sone thought that races were staged as early as 1808, the Racing Calendar did not list results from any meeting until 1810. Races were so successful in the first year that the experiment was repeated in 1811, although for some reason no races were held in 1812, but they did return in 1813 and continued each year until 1819. A two day meeting was held on Wednesday 4th and Thursday 5th August 1819 with the Maiden Plate on day one being captured by Captain Parker’s Antonio from Sir T F Winnington’s Rosamond. The feature race on the second day saw Williamson win for Mr Stevenson. The final races were held on Wednesday 29th September 1819.

This racecourse is covered in Volume 1 of Racecourses Here Today and Gone Tomorrow. Ordering details shown below.
